Today is William Shatner’s birthday and so has been honorarily named Talk Like William Shatner Day. Connoisseurs of diary dates will know there there is a Talk Like A Pirate Day and also a Talk Like William Shakespeare Day, but such figures are internationally and historically recognised. Shatner is just one man, yet his voice has its own day. Why? Because his delivery is distinctive and, whilst often mocked, has become a cult classic all by itself.

Those who read my posts over at Ginger Nuts of Horror will know that I try to be fair in my reviews. I’ve only ever had one book where I was so appalled by the writing that I felt unable to write anything positive in a review. There is usually something of merit in most things. And if you want scathing film reviews, I would suggest checking out the Pop Verse website, run by my Breaking the Glass Slipper co-host, Megan Graeig. That girl does not hold back.
